Fifth and last release from the "Heavy Pieces" limited series, released through the One Leg Up Records label.

This comes packed with early Beatnuts demo tracks. In some tracks you can really hear how they had not developed their MC skillz yet. There are still plenty of dope tracks here though! My favorite is the "Snatch my crops" track with its dark baseline. A must for any die-hard Beatnuts fans.

Run-out groove has:

This is volume 3 out of three "Rare Selections" EP's by Lord Finesse. This EP was released by Lord Finesse's own label Underdog Records, teamed up with New York City based label, No Sleep Recordings. 300 copies made. This is an essential record for any Lord Finesse / Big L / D.I.T.C. fan.

Lord Finesse comments on each track:

Lord Finesse - "Keep The Crowd Listening - DJ Premier Remix" (Produced by DJ Premier - 2005)
This DJ Premier remix was originally done for "The Funky Technician Remix" Project, but due to popular demand because it was leaked early out on the internet (not on vinyl or bootleg), we figured we would make it officially available on vinyl only on this Collector's Edition

Lord Finesse - "Stop Sweating The Next Man - Unreleased Remix" (Produced by Lord Finesse - 1992)
This remix was done for the 3rd commercial single from the Giant / Warner Brothers release "The Return Of The Funkyman". This was supposed to be the next single after the "Party Over Here / Yes You May Remix" 12". A 3rd single was never released from that LP, so this has stayed unreleased until now.

Lord Finesse - "Vinyl Athletes - Unreleased Original Version" Featuring A.G. & MURO (Produced by Lord Finesse - 1999)
Due to sample clearance problems this version never saw the light of day. This was the original version and the other version that was released, is actually a 2nd version produced instead due the above sample clearance problems. Originally this appeared on my "Rare & Unreleased" Pt.1 CD, but due to a lot of people asking, here it is on vinyl finally.

Lord Finesse - "MURO Freestyle" (Produced by Lord Finesse - 1998)
This was a freestyle done for the MURO / Lord Finesse "King Of Diggin" mixtape that we now made available for vinyl collectors.

Big L - "I Can't Understand It - Demo Version" (Produced by Showbiz - 1991)
This is another one of his rare demos that were done previous to him signing to Sony Records. This demo was produced by Showbiz.

Lord Finesse - "Isn't He Something - Unreleased Remix" (Produced by Showbiz - 1991)
This was a jazzy remix that was done by Showbiz during the making of "The Return Of The Funkyman", but at the end of the day this remix was never used and archived until now.

Brains - "From Me 2 U - funkyman version" (Produced by Lord Finesse - 1994)
This is an unreleased song for an artist called Brains that was produced by me. It was archived until now.

40 oz. - "Just One Of Those Days - Original Version" (Produced by Lord Finesse - 1993)
This version of "Just One Of Those Days" is the original version that was produced by me. Due to the fact that Mic Geronimo commercially used the Deniece Williams "Free" sample first, the song was eventually remixed. Both versions were eventually archived until this year.

Lord Finesse - "Outro - Awakening interlude" (Produced by Lord Finesse - 1995)
This outro was originally done for "The Awakening" LP. But was later used in a verse for the song "Soul Plan" featuring Roy Ayers.

All songs are mastered by the legendary Tony Dawsey at Masterdisk Studios, NYC.

This is volume 1 out of three "Rare Selections" EP's by Lord Finesse. This EP was released by the Japanese record store Sound Table, teamed up with Los Angeles based label, Tres Records and New York City based label, No Sleep Recordings. 300 copies made, 150 of them were available via mail order, the rest were sold in the store. This is an essential record for any Lord Finesse / Big L / Notorious B.I.G. fan.

Lord Finesse comments on each track:

Big L - "Unexpected Flavor" (Produced by Large Professor. Co-produced by Lord Finesse - 1991)
This beat for "Unexpected Flavor" was originally a remix for "Isn't He Something" off the Lord Finesse release "The Return Of The Funkyman" Remixed by Large Professor, but Warner Brothers opted not to use it. So while doing "Lifestylez ov da poor & dangerous", Big L decided to use the track for his album, but the song never made the cut for the album".

Lord Finesse - "Praise The Lord - Diamond D's Mix" (Produced by Diamond D - 1991)
This was the original version for the release "The Return Of The Funkyman", but due to sample clearance issues the song was to be redone for the commercial release. The scratches were done by 1990 NMS Champion Steve D".

Lord Finesse - "I Like My Girls with A Boom - Original Version" (Produced by Lord Finesse - 1991)
"This is just an alternate version of the commercial release that includes scratches from the Humpty Dance song that couldn't get cleared for the commercial release. The scratches were also done by Steve D".

Notorious BIG - "Come On - Demo Version" (Produced by Lord Finesse - 1993)
This is an original alternate Studio take of "Come On" originally done for the Notorious BIG "Ready To Die" LP featuring a different production arrangement and slightly different lyrics by Sadat X. This song would eventually be changed numerous times before its commercial release".

Lord Finesse - "Hey Look At Shorty - Original Version" (Produced by Lord Finesse - 1991)
This is the original version done for "The Return Of The Funkyman", but it would be later changed to a different version used for the commercial release".

Lord Finesse - "Fat For The 90's - Alternate Beat" (Produced by Lord Finesse - 1991)
This song was actually done about 4 - 5 different times, but this particular version just didn't fit the feel of the album and was redone a few more times before a version was chosen for the commercial release".

All songs are mastered by the legendary Tony Dawsey at Masterdisk Studios, NYC.

The Cellar EP is a collection of three previously unreleased Rakim tracks. Released by the japanese record store www.soundtable.co.jp, in colaboration with US labels No Sleep Recordings and Tres Records. 300 copies pressed.

Here is the info provided by Soundtable when pre-orders where launched for this release:

"Man With A Gun" (Recorded by Rakim in 2002)
This song was done strictly for an underground buzz 12" that was never released. Featuring D.J. Slyce (1997 DMC USA Champ) on the scratches, this gem is exclusive to this limited vinyl and will never be released in any other format.

"Once Upon A Rhyme - Original Version" (Recorded by Rakim in 1995)
This song/version was a last minute deletion from the "18th Letter" LP. Cuts are also provided by D.J. Slyce. Again, this is the first time this song is available to consumers, and will only be released on this limited 12".

"Show Me Love - Rugged Version" (Recorded by Rakim in 1996)
BONUS TRACK. Tthis version had to be remixed for the "18th Letter" LP, due to sample clearance issues. This will be the only vinyl release of this recording, but the track will be featured on the forthcoming Nick Wiz "Cellar Sounds: Vol. 1" 2CD to be released in 2008.

Classic first Big L album, with productions by Lord Finesse, Buckwild, Showbiz and Craig Boogie.

Note that both the Parental sticker and the other sticker on the front cover, are not authentic stickers. It's part of the cover.

This is the 1st press (or at least a very early pressing), which has a missprinted b-side label. According to the b-side label, the 4th track is called: "Timez iz hard". That track is not on the actual vinyl and did never have an official release (as far as I know). I bought this particular copy March 29th, 1995.
