This is the first release, out of 5, of the "Heavy Pieces" limited series, released through the One Leg Up Records label.

Prior this release, I had never given Herb McGruf any attention. That all changed with this release. This is dope! 4 previously unreleased demo tracks, recorded in 1994. All produced by none other than Godfather Don! And to top it of, there's also an alterntive demo version of Big L's "8 Iz Enuff", which is cool (and slightly different form the album version)! Pressing of 200 copies.

Nice and very dope EP, of previousy unreleaded material. All recorded in 1985-1988, with production way before its time. My favorite is the "Sport Could Get Fluid" track. 250 copies made and very slept on. There may still be copies left at www.vinyladdicts.net, get it while you can!

Japanese-only release, with the grooveman spot remix of "Cycles". Plus there's the exclusive (as far as I know..) "Fruit of our labor" track, which is great!

There are (at least) two different pressings, this press has the red sticker (2nd press I think) on the cover and the other press has the blue sticker on the cover (1st press I think). The two different pressings were pressed the same year, right after one of the other.

NOTE that there is no title, on the label, for the 3rd track on the b-side ("This3"). I wonder if this was done intentionally, so different pressings with alternative tracklisting could be pressed!?! On this pressings the 3rd track is an accapella of "cycles". If you look at the copy on discogs, you'll notice the tracklisting says the 3rd track is an instrumental version of "Fruit of our labor". There are either pressings with alternative 3rd tracks (any other alternatives out there??) or the tracklisting on discogs is wrong. Can anyone confirm?

"The "Cycle's" 12"s are from the first pressing we did, before we got a distribution deal. They're in a black sleeve with a Raw Produce logo missing from one side of the record and our old home phone number printed on the record. We only made 1000 of them."
